Thanks for the reviews Doogs. I’ve tried the Golfshot GPS and have to say that it’s pretty good. Like most of the mobile app GPS units they struggle to get the altitude right, but the rest of it is well thought out and very handy. Will have to try out your other suggestions…

I agree Troy. Even though Luke Donald didn’t play his best golf it was great to see him out here. It was a big 12 months for Australian golf and hopefully 2012 is even bigger.

It seems that all the top guys that were out here really enjoyed themselves so hopefully they all come back soon.

It was great to see Luke Donald out here even though we didn’t see him play his best golf.

I love this post and agree whole-heartedly!

I’m quite new to golf (only a couple of years in but loving every second of playing and viewing) and have really enjoyed the variety that the Presidents and Ryder Cups provided when compared with the standard stroke play competitions.

My dad and I were discussing something similar the other day but instead of just the 2 regions playing, looking at the possibility of a tri-series; almost like a world cup sorta thing. The conversation concluded without looking at the logistics of it in any detail but it a cool concept and something I’m sure I’ll think about again!

I think it’s a great idea. There’s some wonderful match ups there as well.

This type of event would provide a great turn up for the crowds wherever it is held.

The scheduling would be the biggest problem because at present the President’s Cup and Ryder Cup are played in alternate years.

When would the ‘Kings Cup’ be played?

Very challenging course for beginners, wavy fairways with lot of bunker traps; practice your sand wedge skills. Try to play in morning as in the afternoons you might find flies annoying.

The best Australian Open field I have seen in 20 years. It would be great if we could get this sort of field coming here every year instead of just because of the President’s Cup being the following week.
