As I recently blogged, two Kiwi golfers are currently working their way around the globe playing a round of golf, every day for the entire year. An epic adventure, and one that will turn many golfers green with envy. They are currently playing their way through the Mornington Peninsula, then Melbourne’s sandbelt and West along [...]

Plenty Views Golf Park located in Plenty in Melbournes North East used to be a busy driving range on weekends, most bays were full with all types of swings on display, the driver being the most used club. The driving range also has a great cafe with wood fired pizza and work had been underway [...]

Short game tips

Had a quick short game lesson with pro Kevin at Albert Park with Rob. Problem: stance too open, too much wrist. Lead to inconsistent distance, decellerating downswing, fat, thin, in short, a mess! Solution: straight stance, swing with shoulders/arms, min wrist, 70% weight on left. Move ball fwd in stance for higher flight.

Strong winds and quick greens made the course virtually unplayable (though Im sure the members at NSW were sniggering in their beers having [...]

John Daly is back down under to play the Australian Open at New South Wales Golf Club. Sporting a leaner meaner look, he is maintaining his golf fashionista status wearing a seriously bright set of checked pants. Hope John makes the cut, both to watch his entertaining game (first round was a rollercoaster even par [...]

The 2009 Australian Open is off to a great start. Played at the spectacular and very British Open looking New South Wales Golf Club, the leaderboard after Day One features Appleby and Hend on top, with Nitties and Scott amongst others close behind. Hend was off early getting the better weather conditions carding a 66. [...]

Twilight Golf at Yarra Bend

Headed to Yarra Bend Golf Course after work yesterday for a round of golf with Nige. Yarra Bend offers unlimited golf on a weekday from 3pm for just $15. We teed off just after 5:30pm, a couple of solo golfers ahead of us, no-one behind. Great conditions, clear and a bit of wind to make [...]

Next week Tiger Woods arrived in Australia for the first time in over a decade to play the Australian Masters.  Bringing Tiger to Melboune is a massive coup for the tournament organisers and a huge boost for golf in Melbourne and Australia.  Sydney battled Melbourne to win the Tiger prize, Sydney ended up with Brian [...]
