Tigermania about to hit Melbourne
November 8th, 2009 by Doogs
Tiger Woods didnt win the HSBC Champions tournament in China today, a disappointing front nine with some poor driving and putting cost him any chances. Phil Mickelson won from a vintage Ernie Els and the Irish up and comer, Rory McIroy.
He is currently packing his suitcase and jumping on a plane to Melbourne. Tommorow he meets Kingston Heath, arguably the best course in Australia, with hard, fast greens, cavernous bunkers and inpenetrable teatree rough. Welcome back to Melbourne’s sandbelt golf courses Mr Woods. He will do well to leave the driver on a lot of the holes, an unplayable lie in the middle of teatree is a lot more penal than deep grass or even water.
He gets a quiet round on the Heath tommorow, no cameras or crowds. Crowds will decend on the Tuesday practice and Wednesday pro-am. Imagine the nerves of his pro-am playing partners, the lucky bastards! Then it all happens from Thursday.
Will he make the cut? For the sake of the sold out ticket holders, media, sponsors and the TV audiences, of course he will. Will he win? Im not so sure. To be continued…..
