Things for golfers to do before they die
April 17th, 2009 by Doogs
Australian Golf Digests ‘Golf Guru’ recently published an article listing a number of experiences a golfer should aim do in their lifetime including:
- Go on an all-golf 36 hole a day, no spouse, mates golf trip (Tick)
- Get an autograph of a player you admire (Tick)
- Play Barnbougle Dunes (High on my list of to-do’s!)
- Play in a Pro-am (Tick)
- Get your name on the wall of a clubhouse somewhere (does graffitti count?)
- Go to St Andrews (Tick)
- Acquire a golf painting
- Acquire a really old golf book
- Play 18 holes in atrocious weather refusing to walk in (Tick)
- Hit a ball of the edge of a cliff into the sea
- Take some lessons from a good golf pro (Tick – Wayne Rogers @ the Frog)
- Hit the green on the sixth at NSW (Played the hole, missed the green)
- Watch Tiger hit a shot, in the flesh (Tick and hope to again later this year at the Aust Masters)
- Win a trophy (Tick, nothing bigger than the King Challenge
- Make a hole in one (still waiting)
- Shake Greg Normans hand
Some others that I have on my list:
- Walk with the final group at Augusta on Sunday at the Masters
- Play Banff Springs (Tick)
- Hit the island green 17th at Sawgrass TPC
- Play all of the courses at Mission Hills in China
- Shoot my age (a long wait for that one)

This was a fantastic list. Not sure of all of them but it was a lot of fun. I’m currently aiming to: play to my handicap.
