atttended the original Skins Games at Laguna with the likes of Greg Norman, Fred Couples, John Daly and others. The course was always in pristene condition until David Mariner aquired the property.
Although the course and the property are in very bad condition for the past few years, it is discraceful how management keep the original photos of the property and especially the golf course as part of their website to attract golfers and conference guests to play.
Mariner, get real and show the true product for the discrace it is today.

Turtle Point, Laguna Whitsunday
It's more than sad...it's criminal that an icon of Queensland golf tourism should have been permitted fall into such a sorry state. This golf course was a rich tourism asset and very worthy of it's early rankings. Mariner would claim that the demise of the resort was down to access/airport issues, but the golf course was good enough to have withstood it's relative isolation issues had it been maintained and managed appropriately...a' la Barnbougle.
Given it's state of disrepair and neglect it's probably unlikely that there will be a buyer who can save this once fabulous golf asset, but we all live in hope. And to David Mariner I like to say "play the ball as it lies mate and just give it up" but he has no empathy with golf so he wouldn't understand and he obviously dosen't care.

Sounds like it is time for the developer to give someone who knows how to develop a 3 course a change at Laguna Whitsundays.

David Marriner had good ideas but doesnt play the Queensland game. only big US and Japanes money will get this done.

I played this course in 2001 and I ranked it better than nearly all the Melbourne Sandbelts.

Marriner should go to Barnbugles in Tassie to see how a course in the middle of nowhere is booked out for months ahead!
