Not a bad way to start back at work.  Nige had organised a famil at the Victoria Golf Club for eight of us.  So teed off at 4pm on one of Melbournes best courses, sweet!  Was hoping that the swing could correct itself quickly, otherwise it would be a LONG afternoon on the tight fairways and massive bunkers of Victoria.  Now these are fairways, perfect lie every time! Teamed up with Nige, Russ and Chris for the front nine, a par on the short opening hole was followed up by back to back doubles which wasnt promising.  However the irons started to fire again (was it the backswing?) and the short game was improving (Allenby tip – stick in end of club drill).  Pars on 4th and the 5th, which included a big recovery from a crap drive nailing a 6 iron close.  Then a 3 putt par after hitting the edge of the green on the short par 5 8th in two.  Out in 43!

As the sun started to dip, joined Chris, Paul and Jonathon on the back nine.  The driver was on fire, setting up pars on 11 and 12.  A shanked approach on 13, then worrying shank tee shot on the superb short 14th into the crap (need to work on ironing out that issue with the 9 iron!).  Followed it with a nice second ball and dropped the putt for a bogey!  Routine par on 17th, then in fading light, a big drive and 5 iron to the Par 5 18th with a makeable uphill eagle.  Left woefully short, then left the birdie putt short as well.  Another 3 putt par.  No complaints though…43, 41 for an 84.  One of my best rounds ever!
