Played the monthly Stroke medal comp at the Growling Frog on Saturday (yes Kiwi, it is an Awesome name for a golf course!).  Joining Domenic, Phil and Pam, teed off early with perfect conditions on the first tee.  Hit right of fairway but landed a wedge on and 2 putts for a par.  Confidence was then shattered with an ugly shank that went right of a tree I have never been left of!!!  Confronted with a tough shot over water to a pin cut on my side of the green, i hit my gap wedge pure and should have taken par.  Confidence back.   Picked up 3 more pars and missed another couple for an excellent ourward nine of 41.   Apart from the 2nd, i got off the tee every time which gives a huge advantage and boosts the positive thought!

Driver continued to work on the back nine, though the short game failed with double bogeys on 11 and 12 (have struggled on these holes recently), put holed two long putts for par on 14 and 16, to finish with a 45.  A nett 69 with opportunities missed on a number of holes.  Very happy  with the round, though I fell two shots short of taking the overall comp, bugger.

Handicap has been cut from 17.0 to 16.2.  Have previously got as low as 16 in the early years! Swing thoughts: Keep focussing on the left knee, minimising side sway on the backswing and controlling the heal.
