saving the best for….first

Oh look..my ball is in another bunker, this time the par 5 16th.

Returned to the Growling Frog for my first comp round in a while.  Today was the annual Callaway Black Tee Challenge from the back tees. Id played a fine round this time last year finishing with 37 pts and scoring a new Odyssey putter.  Joined three members from Medway hitting off early.  It appeared like I may be in for a decent round as a nailed my drive, then a nice gap wedge on, and a curling putt dropping in the hole, birdie, thank you very much.  However I had saved my best for first!

The putter which had been firing for a while, started going missing and burnt the edge of the cup continually. Whilst my long game was pretty good, I found a LOT of SAND today (at least 10 bunkers) which didnt help, some average approaches and also hit a flat shank offf the tee on 16th.  My 17pts out, faded to 14 pts in for a 31.  Actually thought I swung the club reasonably well today, but missing makeable putts doesnt help!!!

A big plus was an improvement off the tee and with long irons.  Have worked on my left leg and hip turn, keeping the left heel planted on the backswing and knee pushing forward (instead of the flying heel and knee kick which doesnt help consistency and was causing my chunky fat shots).

Growling Frog, that is the most awesome name for a golf course I have ever heard. Congrats on the new flatstick by the way
