Phil & Tiger show…Go Appleby
June 14th, 2008 by Doogs
Half way point in the US Open at Torrey Pines. The coverage is not ideal, every single practice swing and shot taken by Tiger or Phil is shown and replayed, meanwhile the rest of the field gets occassional airtime. Even Adam Scott playing with the super twosome is only shown now and then. Sure, Tiger and Phil are superstars of the sport, but there is a Major tournament going on with field full of great players. The Spaniard Jimenez was hardly sighted, yet he shot a 66 and is now 2 shots off the lead.
Great to see Stuart Appleby on top of the leaderboard after two rounds thanks to a BIG putt on the 18th green, two other Aussies sit in the top 10 with Ogilvy and Allenby 3 off the lead. But Tiger was in typical Tiger mood, after a shaky front nine, he shifted up a gear and had 5 birdies on the backnine to finish 1 shot off the lead. Tiger would want to be on top of the leaderboard after the 3rd round as he is yet to come from behind on the final day of a Major!
