Last golf for 2007 at Mallacoota Golf Club
January 6th, 2008 by Doogs
Whilst on holiday, played 9 holes on the final day of the 2007 year at Mallacoota Golf Club. Was joined by my fellow King Tour mate, Steve, and also my son Sam for his first ‘official’ round of golf. It was hot, so we settled for a slow nine holes, and Sams little legs would not have survived 18 (neither would Steve or myself!)
Mallacoota is a linkish country layout, pretty straight but long for a country course, slow flat greens and wide fairways surrounded by deep rough. Fine for a holiday hit. Playing matchplay, Steve was out of the blocks early and was 2 up after 2 holes, by the 5th he was 4up! I finally won a whole on the 6th to stay in the game but a halved hole on the 7th gave Steve the win 3 and 2. For the record, Steve carved it up with a 41 (+5), I had a 43. Short game sucked!
Sam enjoyed the morning too, he hit a few good tee shots and made a ‘birdie’ (relative to his age etc!). It wont be long before he is looking to join the King tour as a rookie!
