Form returns at Woodlands
November 18th, 2007 by Doogs
With Steve visiting from Sydney we did what has to be done when we catch up and play golf! Playing two rounds qualified this as an official King Challenge event, the first for 2007! We were lucky enough to get a game at Woodlands Golf Club, a private course in Melbournes superb sandbelt region. Woodlands is a tight traditional layout, measuring just over 6000 metres, well bunkered and characterised by small greens requiring accurate approaches. With the temperature set to hit 30 degrees we decided to knock the dew off the ground and hit off at 8am.

Started well parring the first two holes, as Steve’s approach game got off to a slow start. 4 pars on the front nine and 18 points gave me a 5 pt lead, 2 more pars on the backnine and finished with 35 points. Steve just couldnt get the game firing and scored 26 pts. My irons and approaches were working well, short game was OK but the driver is inconsistent and seems to suffer from the new swing! Woodlands is an enjoyable course, and punishes the wayward shots. The short 251 metre Par 4 is a classic short hole, not to be taken lightly.
