“Howling” Frog
July 2nd, 2007 by Doogs
Teed off at the Growling Frog yesterday with my mate Steve who was down from Sydney. A strong, chilly Northerly wind made conditions pretty tough. Played OK early with the wind, but once playing back into the breeze it took its toll on the scoring. Finding the fairway was an achievement, even standing upright was difficult at times, and had to allow for the wind on putts!
We played Matchplay, and were all square after 9 holes. A traditional sausage roll at the pro-shop, then into the stormy back nine. The short game returned to its crappy worst, though the putter was pretty good. Steve coped better into the wind and after Id opened up a few hole lead, Steve fought back. We were all square heading up the 18th, a solid approach shot by Steve was enough to secure the win 1 up.
