Dramatic tie in minigolf open
April 16th, 2007 by Doogs
The third round of the Minigolf series between Sam and Dad (me) took place last weekend at Latrobe Mini Golf. Sam had taken the first round, with Dad fighting back to level the series. With the series tied at 1 all, the pressure was on! The Everest course is a par 54 layout, not surprisingly featuring a large mound (or “Everest”!).
Sam took an early lead on the front nine with a dramatic birdie on the 4th, then the competition moved up a notch with both Sam and Dad rattling off birdies on 6,7, and 9. A bogey on the 8th to Sam bought the game back to all square. Into the tricky back nine, the layout winds up and over “Everest”, Sam opened up a 2 shot lead on the 13th with a super birdie, whilst Dad bogeyed the hole. The lead was short lived as Sam struggled on the tricky 14th (down the slope of Everest!), whilst Dad holed a miracle birdie putt. Try as they may, neither could break the deadlock over the closing holes with both finishing tied on 2 under 52. Minigolf was the winner!

It was then off to the driving range next door, to whack a bucket of balls!
