An inconsistent eagle

Played Saturday competition at the Growling Frog today, perfect conditions and the course is still holding up very well given the continuing lack of rain.  Of course, if you happen to leave the fairway you must deal with dry baked patchy rough and poor lies, but then you shouldnt be rewarded for missing your target should you!

Comp was par, one of my least favoured formats!  Started off with a miss, but then cracked a great drive and an even better 6 iron into the par 5 3rd, leaving a very makeable putt that I subsequently holed for Eagle. The feeling of euphoria was then gradually eroded as I took misses on the next 5 holes before a par on the 9th.  My inconsistency stepped up a notch as i mixed four very good pars with five crap holes.  Finished with a score of -5 and a very average equal 42nd.

My driver was very good, the long irons also fantastic, but as I got closer to the green, the shots were a lot poorer, inconsistent and very ugly.  As noted in previous posts, major surgery is required by Doctor Wayne to correct something thats terribly wrong!  At least six of my poor holes were caused by poor chips/pitches, plus some poor putting and near misses.  Overall though, pretty happy, the eagle and 5 pars were all played to regulation, just dont mention the rest of the game.
