Cairns has been selected to host the King Challenge Tropical in December this year. With Mike and Steve heading North for Christmas, it just didnt seem right not to pack the clubs (in fact it would be down right criminal). Venues for the Challenge are yet to be confirmed but look to certainly include the [...]

Congrats to Geoff Ogilvy – finally an Australian wins another golfing Major. Ogilvy had to play some great golf down the stretch, saving pars with a solid shortgame. The entire field was moving backwards, and it looked as though Mickelson would hold out for another major despite driving like crap. But it was the driver [...]

Still only one player under par after the second round, Steve Stryker aka “Steve who”. Monty one off the pace on even and then Ogilvy is up there only 2 off the lead. Of the other Aussies, Scott Hend is closeby but the others including Scott has a day to forget. Ogilvy has the staying [...]

Played the first round of the Herald Sun Golf Challenge at the Growling Frog this morning against Rod from Heidelberg. Rod was complaining that he hadnt played for ages but proceeded to blitz early and won the first 3 holes. This was looking like a thrashing. Managed to stem the bleeding and then as Rod’s [...]

Nice one Eddie. Nine will only show the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the US Open golf live, favouring the cheesy, fake Today Show with ‘live crosses’ to the golf. Pay TV will take up the coverage of the 1st and 4th rounds. Will this change if one of the Aussies is making a charge [...]

Only one player is under par at the US Open after the first round, and its ‘Monty’! I thought these guys were good! Its good to see Scott, Appleby, Hend and Ogilvy up there early. Id be putting my money on Ogilvy, Scotts putting is very susceptible down the stretch (He could have won the [...]

For almost an hour, the Aussies World Cup campaign looked to be all but over after a shocking ‘Goldspinkesque’ refereeing error gave Japan the lead. Time ticked on towards the final whistle, brows were furrowed. Aussie Guus (‘Hoos’) then swung the changes bringing on Cahill, Kennedy and Aloisi. 83rd minute, it happened, goal to Cahill. [...]

As part of the golf day I played in recently, our team all had a quick golf tip from Henry Cussell, resident pro at St Andrew Beach. When addressing the ball, the ‘waggle’ is important for relaxing the stance. I was using too much wrist and waggling too fast. Henry recommended slowing the movement down [...]

Played a corporate golf day on Friday at Victoria Golf Club. Victoria is nestled in with Royal Melbourne, and presents a tough test of golf with gum tree lined fairways and thick, at time impenatrable rough to capture the wayward shot. Bunkers are numerous and cavernous. Playing ambrose, our team played well but bogeyed a [...]
