The FIVE Putt
December 4th, 2006 by Doogs
My recent putting woes were somewhat alleviated, be it temporarily, recently thanks to Greg Chalmers at the Australian Masters. Chalmers had a five-putt triple bogey at the ninth hole at Huntingdale, (378m par 4) with the last four putts all from inside five feet. He did manage to finish impressively with a massive 40-foot birdie putt on the 18th .
For the record, the Australian Masters was won by England’s Justin Rose with a 12 under total, ironically Chalmers shared second spot with Richard Green, two shots adrift. No doubt he will have recurring nightmares of that 9th green!!!
One of golfs sayings is that the easiest putt in golf is the fourth putt. I heard Chalmers interviewed later stating that the fifth putt was the easiest putt he has ever hit in his life, at least he can laugh about it!
