Australia virtually loses World Cup Final to France
July 10th, 2006 by Doogs
Italy has hoisted the World Cup aloft having defeated France in a penalty shootout. At least thats what happened in reality. My virtual parallel reality played out on the PS2 had Australia defeating the Italians, then easily accounting for Ukraine. They knocked out Germany in the semi final, and progressed to the Final against France.
After a tense opening to the game, it was Kewell who scored in the 29th minute to give Australia the lead. 10 minutes later, a rare attack by the French was rewarded with some Zidane magic as he avoided 3 defenders and chipped Schwartzer for the equaliser

All tied at half time, the Australians went on all out attack in the second half. The pressure showed with missed opportunities to Cahill and Kewell. The French also showed that their diving skills were worthy of a gold medal.

The game went to extra time but no team was either to score, so the decision went to penalties. With both teams scoring first, Bresciano’s shot was saved by the French keeper. Schwartzer saved the next penalty, but it was Kewell who failed to put his shot away and France were able to score and win the World Cup.
GOLD! hahaha… well that’s prob what would have happened too if it weren’t for Grosso taking a few tips from the Australian Swim Team!
