Prediction: Australia 1 – Italy 0
June 25th, 2006 by Doogs
The actual second round game against Italy in the 2006 World Cup is still over 24 hours away, yet after a tough encounter between these two teams on the PS2 Fifa World Cup game, Australia has progressed to the quarter finals. With the teams playing at a frantic pace, both had opportunities in the first half, with Schwarzer saving an almost certain Italian goal (Kalac was dropped!!!). Midway through the second half, a superb Bresciano cross was acrobatically smashed past the keeper by Tim Cahill. Australia withstood a frantic final 20 mins to win!
Australia 1 (Cahill 67) – Italy 0
Cahill scores the winner

The ball beats the keeper
Goaaaaaaaaaalllll

Go the Soccerroos! bring on whoever!
The ball is round and anything can happen. Italy famously underestimates so-called minor opposition and will be especiallyl vulnerable if it’s a warm day and the game goes to the wire or, even more so, if the game goes into extra time.
In short, you’ve got to believe. If the Aussies don’t believe they can win, who will?
Thats fantastic!!! I’ll take the 1 – 0 win to Australia even if it is a PS2 prediction.
You built my hopes up and now I am shattered! I was going to recommend for you to take over from Guus but not anymore. Go Spain, my only hope!
Unfortunately and depressingly reality did not replicate fantasy. However the Socceroos campaign continues on the PS2 with their win taking them through to meet the Ukraine in the quarter finals…..stay tuned….
