Archive for 2006

Its slightly sad and disturbing, but Ive kept some basic stats from most of my rounds of golf since 2000. A strange trend has been occuring this year. I’ve almost doubled the number of greens hit in regulation this year, averaging about 6 per round. However my putting has suffered with more [...]

Moonah Links is a 36 hole complex on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne. The Open Course measures over 6,800 from the black tees designed by Peter Thomson as an Australian Open venue. The Legends course is a kinder resort style layout.

The Open Course features over 70 bunkers, most of which are very deep penal [...]

A day at the beach!

Played yesterday with Andrew M on the Open Course at Moonah Links (See my review). Teeing off early, the weather was sensational, no wind, clear skies and no other golfers in sight!!! We played from the Blue tees, measuring 6301 metres (480 metres shorter than the black!).

Wasn’t hitting the ball cleanly [...]

2006 in pictures

I’ve gone all Web 2.0 this Christmas and put together a Youtube Christmas card. I think i may have started something as this will probably become an annual feature.

Nick O’Hern is ranked 35th in the World Golf Rankings, (To put that in perspective, Allenby is ranked 41st). So it comes as a complete surprise that he has not won a tournament since 1999. He is always competitive but hasnt been able to close the deal. Maybe it has something [...]

Movember 2006 – Its a wrap

Movember 2006 finished last Thursday night with the Movember Gala, a massive party to celebrate the month of Movember, and the very impressive $4 million plus raised by the 50,000 Mo-bro’s for Prostate cancer research and mae depression. A worthy cause worth the steel wool embedded in the upper lip.

Our Team Cobra Bro’s raised [...]

The FIVE Putt

My recent putting woes were somewhat alleviated, be it temporarily, recently thanks to Greg Chalmers at the Australian Masters. Chalmers had a five-putt triple bogey at the ninth hole at Huntingdale, (378m par 4) with the last four putts all from inside five feet. He did manage to finish impressively with [...]

Waterford Valley Golf Course opened earlier this year and is a solid addition to Melbourne’s public access courses. The two nines loop out and back around a number of lakes and wetlands, so whatever direction the wind is blowing you will be playing with it and against it! The course is dotted with over 60 [...]

Death by a thousand putts

Played golf today for the first time in a couple of months, and it showed. Rob and I headed to Waterford Valley Golf Course in Rowville.

Both started off well, I hit the first two greens in regulation but ominously 3 putted both after putting the approaches a LONG way from the [...]

Scott wins Tour Championship

Adam Scott has had a great year, but was winless on the PGA Tour after some close finishes. He changed all that this weekend with a comfortable 3 shot win in the Tour Championship over freakyswing-Furyk. He picks up a lazy US$1 million to finish 3rd on the PGATour moneylist.

Scott was presented [...]
