Growling Frog Golf Course – 9th green (left) and 18th Green
Hoping to capitalise on last weeks good form, played the Saturday stroke competition today with Chris, Kieran and Bill at the Growling Frog Golf Course. The forecast rain wasnt to be seen but a NW wind would make things interesting. Once again started well hitting the first in regulation but 3 putted. An up and down par on the 2nd, then pars on 4th, 5th and 7th for an outward nine of 41.
Talks of ‘pirate’ from my playing partners after nine holes, quickly disappeared as a train wreck unfolded on the back nine. Took 3 shots to get out of the bunker on 11, then the short game failed on 12th and 13th. A par on 15th steadied, but shocking tee shot on 16 and more sand problems on 17. Finished the back ten shots worse than the front nine for a nett 77.
What went wrong? The swing got tired, had some poor decisions on a few holes and concentration wasnt there. Then got stuck in the out of control spiral when you question your swing and lose confidence. Will take away the positives from the front nine, which included 5 greens in regulation and some great putting. The driver is getting distance but accuracy is inconsistent.
